Lady Gaga's 'Do What U Want': We'll Take the Track, Leave the Body

The second track from Lady Gaga's Artpop has dropped and, thankfully, we're feeling a bit better about this one than we did about "Applause" — and a lot of that has to do with R. Kelly's appearance on the track.

The only imagery we've got for "Do What U Want" is Gaga's, well, body, so it leaves plenty to the imagination as far as the implications of the track go. Gaga gives vintage Whitney Houston a run for her money atop syrupy, synthed-out '90s R&B vibes, and her ambitious vocal lines are only elevated by R. Kelly's standard, soaring tenor.
Here's the thing, though: Terry Richardson, who directed the notorious video for Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball," is the man who captured Gaga's behind for the single's artwork. Given their documented friendship, the number of Gaga portraits that have flooded his diary, the amount of attention Cyrus's writhing body on a chain got, and the sparks flying between Gaga and R. Kelly on this duet, is this a hint for something scandalous down the line? "Applause" came galloping out of the gate with its over-the-top and autobiographical weirdness, and "Do What U Want" shows off her chops. We ain't seen nothin' yet — well, except for one awful wig and a neon thong — but something tells us that we'll get more than what we bargained for closer to Artpop's official release date.
