Falcon 5X: First Jet With A Skylight Worth $45 Million

French aircraft manufacturer Dassault prides itself for having the first private jet with a skylight.

The Dassault Falcon 5X is an all-new private jet with a price tag of $45 million and comes with the largest cabin and a wider fuselage cross-section than the three engine 7X that makes it capable of accommodating a maximum of 16 passengers.
Equipped with new Snecma Silvercrest French engines, it is lighter and more fuel efficient than rival Bombardier’s Global 5000 (by 35%) and Gulfstream’s G450 (by 30%). It can fly as high as 51,000 feet with a maximum range of 5,200 nautical miles (9,360km).

The jet falls short on Gulfstream G650, the biggest, fastest and the best private jet with a hefty price of $65 million. Only that Dassault’s cabin is wider and taller with a cabin height of 1.98 cm.

“The Falcon 5X is the new benchmark for the creative use of advanced technology in business aviation,” said Eric Trappier, chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “Using design and manufacturing software and systems pioneered by Dassault, we have been able to build a larger, more comfortable and more capable aircraft that is also more environmentally friendly and much more economical to operate compared to other aircrafts in its class.
Dassault also dubbed the Falcon 5X its most luxurious, advanced, fast and efficient jet. “The Falcon 5X represents our biggest investment since the beginning of the Falcon programmes,” Trappier added. It is set to have a new generation all-digital cockpit with head-up display technology provided by Elbit Systems.
The Falcon 5X will have its first flight in the first quarter of 2015.
